Fri 04/01 105.9 WXDX presents J. Roddy Walston & The Business with special guests Sleepwalkers 8:00pm All Ages
The third album from J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Essential Tremors borrows its name from a nervous-system disorder that’s long plagued the band’s frontman. “It’s this condition where my hands shake―sometimes not at all, but sometimes pretty bad,” says singer/pianist/guitarist Walston. “I’ve referenced it throughout all our records in some way, but it made sense to be more open about it on this album, which is partly about owning and embracing your weirdness instead of letting it hold you captive because you don’t even want to talk about it.” For J. Roddy Walston & The Business―who formed in 2002 in Walston’s hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee―embracing weirdness means a mumble-out-loud celebration of that great and terrible burden of being human. Forcing the oft-clashing worlds of art and rock-and-roll to make nice, the band deals in a scrappy yet sublime sound that honors both their Southern roots and punk spirit.

***SOLD OUT*** Elle King
8:00pm All Ages
Frank and fearless, tender and rowdy, Elle King's debut album, "LOVE STUFF" marks the true arrival of the young singer/ songwriter/ guitarist/ banjoist as a pop force to be reckoned with. "I always thought I knew who I was," says King, "but now I'm really learning what kind of person I want to be. And with that comes who I am as an artist, because the songs come from who I am and what I go through." She recorded these twelve songs with such remarkable producers as Jeff Bhasker (Fun., Kanye West), Eg White (Adele, Sam Smith), and Jacknife Lee (R.E.M., U2), and guest musicians including Mark Ronson and Patrick Carney of the Black Keys. The first single from "LOVE STUFF," "Ex's & Oh's," was #1 Most Added at AAA radio upon release; Billboard called the track "catchy and clever."

Thu 04/07 The Front Bottoms with special guests Brick + Mortar, Diet Cig 7:30pm All Ages
Whether they’re just strutting their stuff or referencing a sexual position, the Front Bottoms have delivered a powerful new album with Back On Top. Their first for Fueled By Ramen is both full of departures and a continuation of the work they’ve been building on for years. Brian Sella (vocals, guitar) and Mat Uychich (drums) have put together a vibrant array of killer new songs with their band mates Tom “Two Slaps” Warren (bass) and Ciaran “C-Dog” O’Donnell (guitar, horns, keyboards). The growth and confidence shows in the work of this unit of four. While there is plenty that is familiar from Mat’s powerhouse drumming to Brian’s acoustic guitar and a healthy dose of horns, there is also plenty that is new, including bigger rock sounds (“Motorcycle,” “West Virginia,” “The Plan (Fuck Jobs)”) and surprisingly melodic vocal parts. (“Cough It Out,” “HELP”). There’s even a guest turn from Jersey rapper GDP who takes their darker side to even darker places in the “Historic Cemetery.” Songs flow seamlessly into each other and the album just gets stronger as it moves along.

Sun 04/10 The Joy Formidable with special guests Everything Everything 8:30pm All Ages
The Joy Formidable have never been one to shy away from a challenge. Proving that time and again by holding their own as support for legendary artists and acts from Sir Paul McCartney to The Foo Fighters and The Black Keys. Once described by Rolling Stone as “wickedly bracing and Himalaya-huge;” the fantastic live band would now face the self-appointed challenge of ensuring their onstage energy and ability to connect with audiences translated via recording. That is the challenge that TJF took on for their upcoming third release. "We realized we needed to build a space and do it ourselves, go back to being three people in a room again" said Ritzy (Rhiannon) Bryan regarding the band's decision to self-produce the new record.

Tue 04/12 91.3 WYEP presents Ra Ra Riot with special guests And The Kids, PWR BTTM 8:00pm All Ages
After being a band for a decade, it's easy to get disillusioned with the tedium of adulthood, but Need Your Light, the fourth full-length from RaRa Riot, is the sound of a band being reinvigorated by their own existence. Correspondingly, the album sees the group—which originated in Syracuse but has now dispersed all over the country—getting back totheir house party roots without abandoning the more heady soundscapes they explored with 2013's Beta Love. The result isan album that's celebratory without being saccharine, and that sees the group collectively mining their prior experiences to craft something that looks toward the future with an optimistic gaze.

Thu 04/14 Murder by Death with special guests Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band 9:00pm All Ages
For a band that has built its formidable, nearly 15-year career around a meticulous consideration for the effects of pressure, release, bombast, ecstasy, and highest-highs vs. lowest-lows, it is something to say that this (latest album Big Dark Love) is Murder By Death’s most dynamic release to date. On their seventh full-length album and first since their 2012 Bloodshot debut Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon, the band’s signature sound (rootsy indie rock, cinematic gothic ballads, and rousing pub rock shout-alongs) mixes with enlivening new stylistic elements (touches of pop, synth-y electronics, and psych rock) only hinted at on previous albums.

Mon 04/18 91.3 WYEP presents The Dandy Warhols - Distortland Tour 8:00pm All Ages
"So I heard about Courtney Taylor's new band called THE DANDY WARHOLS. I heard that they had that youngster/cutie pie, Zia in it who was just about ready to start hustlin' cigarettes for camel. For me at least, this mysterious guitar fellow, Pete (where did he come from, anyway?) I also knew Eric their original drummer from various nights on the town. I heard of these folks b4 I'd "heard" them… Nakedness, fucking, drugs, bike rides, motorcycle rides, cult like, were they associated with that Partridge Family Manson thing that was around then? who knew? I just know they were talked about with the sort of "you had to be there, oh my god! One long jam, Zia took her shirt off! oh my god!" kind of way." - Tres Shannon

Thu 04/21 91.3 WYEP presents Lissie with special guest Skrizzly Adams 8:00pm All Ages
My Wild West is Lissie’s 3rd studio album and a fitting tribute to her life in California, from her arrival as a fresh-faced singer-songwriter til now, leaving for the Midwest wiser and more self-assured. Bookended by the songs “Hollywood” and “Ojai”, it brings out the two extremes of the past decade – the ups and downs of the former and the “stability, joy and peace” of the latter. My Wild West represents both a new beginning and a return to Lissie’s Midwestern roots.
